Knife Design Feature — Weight

Weight is one of the most remarkable product design features of Pro-Balance which the knife adjustment function enables user to freely adjust the knife weight. The weights range from 4 grams to more than 30 grams, allowing user to move forward or backward to adjust the knife handle to the most comfortable weight. This knife is highly personalised and tailored-made for every individual that fully reflects Jimi's aesthetic insights.

The Balance that Suits you Best!

From your cooking experience, you may have usually come across situations in which there was a lack of smooth experience and comfortable feel. Durable knives are often too heavy, while those with a sharp blade are usually too light, and it may probably be the issue of ''balance''. Design Mr. Jimi Kwok considers there is little room for kitchenware innovation given the traditional best practice on design, however, as long as a small innovative idea is developed, it may be good enough for breaking into the market. Same as adding weights to the knife handle, it enables user to find out the most optimal balance point for a more comfortable and personalised experience.

Alloying Elements in Knife Steels

In order to make knives with the desired hardness, sharpness, durability and anti-rust ability, Pro-Balance carefully adjusts the percentage of elements, such as chromium (Cr), carbon (C), molybdenum (Mo), and vanadium (V), while making its knives.  For example, chromium affects the strength and corrosion resistance of knives, and only steel with a content of more than 10.5% of chromium can be labelled as stainless steel. The chromium content of Pro-Balance knives can be as high as 14%, making its excellent durability suitable for home and restaurant chefs alike.

Carbon (C), molybdenum (Mo) and vanadium (V) are some of the other elements used when making knives. The amount of carbon determines the hardness of the blade. The carbon content of Pro-Balance knives is 0.45%, giving it excellent sharpness and ability to perform. Molybdenum is a heat-resistant substance, which is mainly used in precision equipment and instruments to maintain the strength of the steel during high-temperature processing. Finally, the vanadium carbides formed from vanadium increases the hardness of the steel, making it longer-lasting and more wear-resistance.  Integrating various steel elements is the secret recipe of all Pro-Balance knives.
